Initially I didn't realize you can park anywhere in the structure for free. It's not limited to the charging spaces. Bring a card w/ your name, license, VIN, and phone # to speed up the exit process

Lucked out... Got here in the middle of the day and ONE charger and spot was available. WARNING to J1772 EV cars if you park at an SPI legacy charger spot, you will get ticketed. a Volt and a Leaf were parked in the SPI chargers for the legacy RAV4's and they both had tickets. You HAVE to plug in to qualify to use the spot.

All spots full except one, which was paddle charge only. Two Chevy Volts had tickets on them for "not charging" in a RAV4 spot. There are no signs that say you must have a RAV4 to use the spots. Ridiculous!

All charging spaces in use. Handicap spaces empty but EVs on opposite row were using charging cables from handicap spaces.

These only charge at 15 amps. The old ones used to give 30 amps. This is fine for long term parking but at 15 miles of charge per hour it's too slow for short term.

The place was full of EV's, I counted 37 including a Coda, New RAV, Transit and the usual gathering of Volts and BMWs and a pile of Leafs. The two handicap spots were unoccupied, but one's J-1772 was crossed over and plugged into a Leaf on the other side. All other J-1772 sites were in use. The place is over used and it could be a problem is one were really in need of charge. They need to install level 1 points for those on a longer term trip.

There are a lot of EVs parked in front of chargers but not plugged in. How is this helping anyone? Luckily, there were a couple of open spaces with chargers since I'll need a charge to get home.

All the SPI charge locations were already occupied (I believe there are only 4 left, the remainder replaced with J1772). Only 1 of the 4 was occupied by a RAV4, the remainder by Volts and LEAFs, obviously not charging. Only 1 of the 4 had a sign saying RAV4 only parking. I didn't have time to leave notes on the cars to educate them. Will be better prepared next time. Would be great if dealers would educate the new EV buyers about proper charging etiquette.

Too many EVs already plugged in. Even 110 outlets would suffice. I do appreciate the opportunity to park for free.

Wow! Has been a few months since last I was here. I counted about 30 plug-in electrics. Numerous LEAFs and Volts. One ActiveE and a few of us RAV4s. Every charger was taken. Definitely need more chargers as I saw half a dozen cars that may have wanted to plug in. Nice to see so many plug-in electrics after so many years of only a few of us. Times they are a changing' :)

There was 1 open non-handicap J1772 space! A Leaf blocking an SPI space has a ticket for not plugging in. A Fisker and a RAV4AEV are blocking SPI spaces.

Clarifying my last post: There are currently *NO* J-plugs in Lot 6. There are a pair over in Lot 1 - reports indicate that these are frequently in use or blocked. By "this site", I meant LAX in general.

Parked 10/22/11, picked up my car at 1:30 AM this morning. Had to park on the LPI side in order to plug into an SPI (there were a number of Leafs, Mini EVs, and a couple of Volts blocking chargers with a few actual RAV4-EVs using the SPIs.) When I got back to LAX, most of the Leafs were on the LPI side where they were not blocking the SPIs. This site *really* needs more J1772 chargers!

What a disaster. Don't count on being able to charge your EV here. There were 2 RAV4EVs, 1 charging, 1 just blocking a charger There was 1 Leaf, just blocking an SPI charger There were 2 Volts just blocking SPI chargers There was 1 (smug) Civic Hybrid blocking an SPI. (I guess he was just snarking the primo parking space) Would all you west-side folks who don't need to charge, please not gather around the few chargers, blocking them for those who do need to charge. If you need to charge but there's no space or not the right kind of plug, why are you blocking another site? Does spite make you feel good? It would be great if LAX just got rid of all the free short-term parking and installed standard 120 volt outlets in the long-term parking lots. Clearly, the "perk" is more attractive than the support of clean, oil free EVs in the motivation of Angelino's to buy EVs. I guess that is good since it stimulates but the "perk" has clearly worn out its benefit. I called a few of the private airport parking companies and many of them will get you a 120 volt outlet if you park there. A consideration for those like me who actually do need to charge at LAX.
